Credentials
The Ambulatory Surgery Center of Westchester is dedicated to providing surgical services and care that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Credentials for the Center
National Accreditation by AAAHC
The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) is the leading national accreditation agency for free-standing ambulatory surgery centers like the ASCW.
Accreditation is a voluntary process through which the ASCW is able to measure our quality of services and performance against nationally recognized standards. To achieve accreditation status by the AAAHC, the ASCW undergoes an unannounced three-day survey by the AAAHC expert surveyors at least once every three years.
The surveyors focus on all aspects of an ambulatory surgery center including, but not limited to:
- Rights of Patients
- Governance
- Administration
- Quality of Care Provided
- Quality Management and Improvement
- Clinical Records and Health Information
- Infection Prevention and Control, and Safety
- Facilities and Environment
- Anesthesia Services
- Surgical Services
- Pharmaceutical Services
- Pathology and Medical Laboratory Services
- Diagnostic and Other Imaging Services
The ASCW has proudly achieved the highest rating during each survey since our opening in 2002.
The AAAHC Accreditation Certificate is a symbol that an organization is committed to providing high-quality health care and that it has demonstrated that commitment by measuring up to the Accreditation Association’s high standards.
Federal Certification by CMS
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) certifies health care facilities which meet the federal health and safety standards and CMS maintains oversight for compliance. The ASCW has consistently achieved certification with CMS.
State Licensure by the New York State Department of Health
The NYSDOH issues an Operating Certificate to ambulatory surgery centers throughout the state which allows them to operate as a business and ensures compliance with legal regulations and health care safety and standards. The ASCW has maintained compliance with all state regulations.
